Members had many opportunities to be Festive in Fitzrovia during Christmas 2015, we provide a full round up of season’s activities.
Christmas Light Switch On
Last year’s Christmas light switch on took place on Thursday 12 November around the Christmas tree outside UCLH in support of the children’s ward. Carols were sung and local businesses joined in the festivities ahead of the switch on at 5pm.
One day Festive pop-up
To support the Christmas Light Switch On, the Partnership organised a one day festive pop-up market in Whitfield Gardens, building on the success of the previous year’s market. Six businesses participated by taking stalls, Kua ‘Aina, Konditor & Cook, Bobo Social, Moba, Soho Wine Supply and Boopshi’s. The market was open to trade between 11am – 7pm, with the majority of trade taking place during the busy lunch period. On average stall holders sold around 60 covers each, with an average spend of £6.00.
Visitors were invited to test their strength on the fairground striker in return for a donation to UCLH Children’s Ward. £62.00 was raised throughout the day.
Visit our Gallery to enjoy images from both the light switch on and festive pop-up market.
To support the on-going Thursday late night trading and create additional atmosphere for the visitor shopping experience, the Partnership programmed street activity each Thursday evening around the Christmas tree in Whitfield Gardens. Entertainment included choirs from Westminster University, the Salvation Army as well as mime artists and even illuminated jugglers!
The 36 pages of the Christmas newspaper was full of details for restaurants, furniture, homeware and gift ideas. A showcase on Christmas party venue ideas was also included. As the paper popularity grows we have showcased both independent businesses that have moved into the area and Partnership members alike with the ability to download the newspaper via the EnjoyFitzrovia website.
20,000 copies of the newspaper were delivered to businesses and residents in the W1T area.
Donate An Extra Gift
Following on from its successful programme in 2014, the Partnership along with Arup promoted the ‘Donate An Extra Gift’ campaign, with all gifts collected being donated to the children’s ward at UCLH in December.
We are pleased to say that with your help we were able to deliver 386 individual gifts!
Christmas Restaurant Campaign
The Fitzrovia Partnership sent out a dedicated e-shot in October to promote Christmas lunch and dinner options in the area, featuring 14 businesses.
The e-shot was targeted, with over 500 HR, PA, Marketing, administration and loyalty members of the Partnership receiving the correspondence.
For the month of December the Partnership featured an advent calender on our EnjoyFitzrovia website. Each day starting from the 01 December featured a different Christmas gift idea or offer available in Fitzrovia.
