TfL are launching a new ‘Ambience Partnership’ which will work collaboratively with external partners to provide 50:50 match funding for selected station and station environment improvements.
The Ambience Partnership is designed to fund small scale projects to improve the appearance of stations and help them to better integrate with their local communities, and deliver large benefits in terms of overall customer experience and positive impact on the nearby businesses and residents. Examples of potential projects might be:
· Improving signage
· Removing clutter to make stations easier and more pleasant to use
As Tottenham Court Road is due to be the subject of a major improvement scheme by Camden Council and Tfl as part of the West End Project, The Partnership is advocating for Goodge Street Station frontage, which opens into a busy shopping thoroughfare and over time has been subject to a lack of investment, to have it’s tiles, lighting and entrance reburbishhed.
Responding to requests from members The Fitzrovia Partnership has made an application to see Goodge Street station frontage improved to create a fitting entrance for the thriving business, visitor and residential communities in Fitzrovia.
Applications closed on 30 January 2017, with TfL aiming to deliver improvements at five stations during the 2017/18 financial year.
