The West End Project works are now under way, with the first stage taking place in Gower Street which will provide a cycle lane on each side of the road and two central lanes of two way vehicle traffic. The initial work is to move the utility boxes from the area to be used as cycle lanes to what will become the road. Many of these utility boxes are very deep and the work could be quite challenging and may lead to disruption to traffic as Gower Street and Torrington Place are access routes for construction vehicles to developments in the Fitzrovia area.
The Fitzrovia Partnership are able to meet on a weekly basis with the project team to discuss the next weeks work and act as a conduit for member businesses to remain informed of any interruption to services.
Louise McBride, Camden’s Head of Transport Strategy’s West End Project Letter of 10 July, 2016 provides further details as to the project and opportunities to staying informed.
