Who is it for?

This accredited qualification is designed to introduce the principles of risk assessment, provide an

understanding of why risk assessments are necessary for maintaining and improving standards of health & safety at work

It covers why risk assessments are necessary for maintaining and improving standards of health & safety at work, the legal requirements relating to assessments and simple processes for carrying them out.

It is suitable for learners working in any environment who need to be more risk aware by raising their knowledge of risk in the workplace and basic steps they can take to control it.

Course Content

The course duration is 1 day and topics covered include:

  • The moral, legal and economic reasons for preventing accidents in the work place.
  • Why Risk Assessments are necessary.
  • The principles of Risk Assessments.
  • The role of risk assessment in accident and ill health prevention.
  • The main causes of work related fatalities.
  • The definition of key terms associated with risk assessment in the context of health and safety at work.

Qualification Gained

This is a certificated course. The Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment has been accredited by the regulators of England and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
