Lead and facilitate collaborative actions with all stakeholders
We Will:
- Work with Camden and Westminster Councils to enhance the public realm, with new spaces, greening, pedestrian and cycling improvements
- Work with the councils and other partners to create a built environment that supports wellbeing and healthy lifestyles by promoting healthy food consumption and more cycling and walking
- Encourage and secure funding for members and residents to implement green roofs, walls and urban gardens to support climate resilience and increase biodiversity
- Support the community and businesses to improve resource efficiency by using fewer raw materials and reducing waste; extending the life of products, such as offering repair services, providing spare parts, and designing products that are easy to upgrade; and rethinking waste as a resource by using recycled materials in manufacturing and creating products from industrial by-products
- Work with Camden and Westminster Councils to introduce biodiversity, climate adaptation and resilience measures, such as rain gardens, new trees and planting to Fitzrovia's public realm, securing additional grant funding for this
- Increase recycling by making it the easier option through our preferred supplier offer and by providing more on-street recycling bins to increase recycling rates to 65% by 2030
- Organise and promote street activations and festivals to increase footfall into the district
- Publish a directory of local sustainable businesses to support the local economy
Demonstrate accountable and responsible governance
We Will:
- Be an inclusive and diverse organisation at every level
- Appoint a board lead for sustainability, ensuring the strategy and action plan has a C-Suite champion
- Guide and track delivery through a member steering group
- Report annually on our performance and that of the Fitzrovia district
- Encourage businesses to adopt regular sustainability reporting and celebrating their sustainability achievements
- Use data and insights to prioritise the delivery of actions to make Fitzrovia more sustainable
