SIX WORK PROGRAMMES 2022 > 2027
Fitz&Sits is the outcome of a design competition that challenged emerging architects, designers, and artists to create seating that is innovative, sustainable, inclusive, and relates to Fitzrovia – past and present.
The result: nine striking benches forming a trail through the district—each one an invitation to pause, connect, and savour the moment.
Sponsored by local businesses and launched as part of LFA2025, this creative installation embraces the theme of “Voices,” offering space for storytelling, dialogue, and community connection. Each bench reflects the diverse people, stories, and identities that shape Fitzrovia’s unique character.
Follow the trail—and boost your step count by 2,000 while you’re at it!
The artist designed seats will be installed the week beginning Tuesday 27 May (after the bank holiday).
The seats are a temporary solution and will be in place over the summer months until the end of August. The objective of the promotion is test the viability of having permanent placemaking improvements.
The Fitzrovia Partnership, the area’s local Business Improvement District, is managing the placemaking intervention which includes any day-to-day assistance. The seats are sponsored by local businesses.
The seats and their locations have been through a vigorous planning application process with the Local Authorities.
The Fitzrovia Partnership will be responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and security of the seats during the promotion. Daily checks will be done by the Street Warden team and the Fitz-Rover, the cleaning vehicle.

The Fitzrovia Partnership provides a cohesive approach to help businesses achieve shared objectives and as an area we are making great strides to achieve a more economic and environmentally sustainable district.
