SIX WORK PROGRAMMES 2022 > 2027
PROGRAMME 3: ENVIRONMENTAL & PLACE

Any district that aims to achieve sustainable development and Carbon Net Zero needs to have central co-ordination. The Fitzrovia Partnership does just that. Working in partnership with LB Camden and a large number of wider stakeholders and businesses, it co-ordinates and seeks to deliver sustainable solutions.

PROGRAMME 3: ENVIRONMENTAL & PLACE

OUR FITZROVIA

Our public realm and placemaking strategy is guided by the updated and extended scope of the Fitzrovia Village document.

The new strategy includes proposals to make the wider Fitzrovia neighbourhood more attractive and safer to walk and cycle, improve Cleveland Street as a key north-south corridor and commercial area and transform Warren Street into an inviting gateway from the Underground Station into the Fitzrovia area. The new strategy will also seek to address safety with better lighting, more active frontages and re-designed places.

Street Audits

Fitzrovia’s streets have been audited at day and night-time to identify issues, challenges and opportunities to improve the area.

Initial engagement has taken place in the form of resident and worker surveys and workshops, which have informed the draft proposals.

Fitzrovia Village Document

The Fitzrovia Village document was unveiled on 16 November 2022 as part of our exciting sustainability programme. The Fitzrovia Village document details the vision for Fitzrovia, identifying opportunities to build on the area’s characteristics to improve the public realm making it safer, healthier and more attractive.

The new proposal looks at a holistic view of the area identifying added-value solutions that support our three key themes – economic, environmental and social sustainability – and contribute to:

1. A healthy environment for everyone who works, lives and visits Fitzrovia.

2. Good growth where the benefits of the economy are shared by all.

3. Vibrant communities.

Delivery of these proposals can contribute to changing behaviours to support active and healthier lifestyles, create new spaces for residents and workers, attract visitors and encourage inward investment so Fitzrovia remains a thriving economy and great place to work and live.
