Persephone Books opens in Fitzrovia
Persephone Books has opened at 1 Scala Street in Fitzrovia, just in time for autumn.
Housed in the former Pollocks Toy Museum, the independent bookshop and publisher reprints neglected fiction and non-fiction, mostly by women writers and mostly dating from the mid-twentieth century.
Having published their first title in the spring of 1999, there are now 155 fantastic titles to choose from, all of which are intelligent, thought-provoking and beautifully written.
You can find all 155 titles in the new bookshop at 1 Scala Street, Fitzrovia (they also have a bookshop in Bath, which opened in 2021, and previously had a site in Bloomsbury). Each book has an elegant dove grey jacket and its own distinct patterned endpaper, complete with a matching bookmark. Alongside novels, they also publish short stories, diaries, memoirs, poetry, gardening books and cookery books.
We're delighted to welcome them to Fitzrovia!
Persephone Books is now open, from Wednesday – Friday, 10am–6pm; Saturday 11am–5pm, at 1 Scala Street, W1T 2HL.
