2026 marked Fitzrovia's first year as an official neighbourhood for Open House Festival, the London-wide festival that opens up and celebrates the city's built environment. Following on from London Festival of Architecture in May, Open House was another fantastic opportunity for us to raise awareness of Fitzrovia as a destination for cultural and architectural exploration.

With such an eclectic mix of buildings, from Georgian squares and Byzantine inspired architecture to the modernist icon that is the BT Tower, Open House Festival was an ideal partnership to expand our reach, bring new audiences to the area, and highlight Fitzrovia's unique history.

Visitors had the chance to get behind the scenes of Fitzrovia and embrace its rich creative history, with 10 buildings opening their doors to the public for the Festival: BT Tower, The Georgian Group, Dominion Theatre, Ibraaz, British Cardiovascular Society, Fitzrovia Chapel, Southbank Printers, The Building Centre, The Cartoon Museum and University of Westminster.

51 activities and events were delivered, ranging from drop-in sessions to guided tours and workshops. The programme allowed visitors to discover something new and make the most of their time exploring the neighbourhood.

It broadened my knowledge of Georgian architecture and a feeling of connecting the past and present. I also had visits to places not normally accessible and it makes me want to do more. I also enjoyed seeing so many other people there, who were also learning more about the history of the buildings we might pass all the time.
