The Fitzrovia Partnership & Camden Council Launch Joint Operation Against Crime

The Fitzrovia Partnership and Camden Council have launched a new strategic partnership to tackle anti-social behaviour through integrated community safety services.

As part of a £1 million investment announced in the council’s budget earlier this year, Camden Council has boosted the number of Community Safety Enforcement Officers across the district to help deter criminals and improve safety in the borough’s busiest areas.

Recognising the opportunity to combine efforts and create a coordinated approach against crime, The Fitzrovia Partnership has also increased investment into street security.

The partnership will operate on four core principles:

  1. Visible joint patrols: Increase reassurance within the community and improve officer visibility.
  1. Intelligence-led enforcement: Reduce repeat offenders, crime hotspots and emerging issues.
  2. Business engagement and compliance: Proactively engage businesses to improve compliance with legislation and licensing requirements.
  3. Safeguarding and early intervention: Offering support to vulnerable individuals.

Community Safety Enforcement Officers will join The Fitzrovia Partnership’s dedicated team of MyLocalBobby street wardens to double on-the-ground support and introduce a broader range of enforcement powers. These powers include issuing fines for alcohol-related anti-social behaviour, illegal street trading, and fly-tipping.

“We’re committed to creating a safe and clean Fitzrovia. By investing alongside Camden Council, we can leverage better multi-agency working to make a real impact on reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in the neighbourhood.” Andrew Munk, CEO.

Our CEO Andrew Munk and Director of Policy and Place Marcos Gold recently met with Councillor Adam Harrison, Deputy Leader of Camden Council, the Street Wardens and Camden’s Community Safety Enforcement Officers to discuss areas of focus for the initiative.
