Mock interviews with Well Grounded
Well Grounded is an award-winning social enterprise, supporting those who are out of work to find pathways into sustainable careers in coffee. Many adults face barriers to employment, often without access to the professional networks, workplace experiences and opportunities that can help build confidence and open doors.
That's why we're inviting businesses across Fitzrovia to take part in a volunteering morning, helping Well Grounded trainees prepare for their next step into work through realistic mock interviews. This is a simple but meaningful way for your colleagues to support local people on their employment journey. The session is open to volunteers from any sector. No hospitality experience is required.
When: Thursday 3 December, 10am-12pm
Where: Well Grounded Camden Academy, 102 Camley Street, N1C 4PF
What's involved?
Volunteers will be paired with trainees who are completing Well Grounded's coffee skills and employment readiness programme. Trainees will have completed two weeks of part-time training and a few shifts of work experience in different café environments by this point, but for some this may be their first experience of a job interview.
Your role will be to:
Conduct realistic entry-level mock interviews
Help trainees practise answering interview questions
Share constructive, encouraging feedback
Build confidence and interview skills through conversation and guidance
Support trainees as they prepare for future employment opportunities.
Interviews are designed to be supportive and developmental, giving trainees the opportunity to experience the interview process in a safe environment before entering the job market.
What support will volunteers receive?
Before the session, volunteers will be invited to a short online briefing (10-15 minutes) introducing the programme, the trainees and what to expect on the day.
You'll also receive:
Guidance on running a mock interview and suggested format
Suggested interview questions and a ‘mock’ job description
Information about the trainee programme and CVs for those you are interviewing
A feedback template to support conversations with trainees
On-site support from the Well Grounded team throughout the session.
Why get involved?
We're creating opportunities for businesses, employees and community organisations to connect, collaborate and make a difference locally.
By taking part, your organisation can:
Provide colleagues with a meaningful volunteering experience
Support people facing barriers to employment
Build stronger relationships within the local community
Develop employee confidence, coaching and communication skills
Be part of a shared vision for Fitzrovia's future.
We're looking for 6-12 volunteers from across the Fitzrovia business community.
Whatever your professional experience, your time and encouragement could make a lasting difference to someone's confidence and career journey.
Get in touch to register your interest and join us on Thursday 3 December.
