The Elizabeth line is now in its trial phase, undergoing around 150 exercises to test the reliability and safety of the new carriages. The line is still expected to open in Spring 2022, bringing with it new opportunities to London and, especially South East London and a much needed boost to the economy. All but two stations are yet to be handed over to TfL, with Canary Wharf being the next. The line will stretch between Paddington and Abbey Wood, but it is very complex and trial operations will continue until it is clear that it can operate at the highest levels of safety and reliability before the start of passenger services. Only then will a specific opening date for the railway be announced.
