SIX WORK PROGRAMMES 2022 > 2027
PROGRAMME 3: ENVIRONMENTAL & PLACE

Sustainability is an increasingly important factor for a multi-campus organisation in Fitzrovia but we can’t do it on our own. To deliver sustainable solutions, we need to work collectively as an area. The Fitzrovia Partnership is making this happen.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Community Meeting on Rough Sleeping & Antisocial Behaviour

You may have noticed a rise in rough sleeping in our neighbourhood. What is being done to help those who cannot find adequate housing? How can people respond in ways that are compassionate? What resources are available? What is happening with the tent encampments that have come up on the road?

This meeting is being hosted by the American International Church working with The Fitzrovia Partnership, in an effort to build relationships and help us respond together. The meeting will include representatives from Camden Council, Metropolitan Police, local charities supporting rough sleepers and others. Reports will be shared on actions already underway, public and community resources available and there will be time for conversation and input on how you can help. Read more.

When: 30 July 2024, 18:30-20:00
Where: American International Church, 79a Tottenham Court Road, W1T 4TD

Sustainability will be at the heart of everything we do and deliver for Fitzrovia during the next BID term. The United Nations reports that cities consume 78 per cent of the world’s energy and produce more than 60 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, how we do business in Fitzrovia can make a difference to the Carbon Net Zero and wider sustainability agenda.

Heightened awareness of sustainability is also affecting consumers’ purchasing choices and can be a factor in where businesses choose to locate, increasingly selecting property location based on the environmental performance of a building. Rising commodity prices and supply chain uncertainties are affecting business performance and viability. Consequently, there is also a strong business case for migrating to sustainable ways of operating across the whole of Fitzrovia.

Our new programme, Let’s Do Fitzero, will help businesses, employees and visitors make meaningful changes and adaptations. The Fitzrovia experience and offer remains as attractive as ever, but will be delivered in much more sustainable ways. The Let’s Do Fitzero programme will initially offer incentives and advice on sustainable travel, reducing commercial and polluting vehicles in the area, reducing single use plastics and reducing food waste. The programme will be expanded in each year of the next BID term to cover more sustainability strands.
