Government’s response to call for hospitality visa scheme

The government has responded to the petition that has been shared calling for temporary 2 year visas for EU hospitality workers to support UK smaller businesses. The response from government is that there is currently ‘no plan’ to issue these specialist visas, and instead recommended investing in and developing the UK’s domestic labour force, and that many EU citizens are still able apply for settlement in the UK.

The petition will continue to run until February 2023. If it gains 100,000 signatures, the visa will be considered for debate in Parliament. The UK has lost 200,000 international workers since 2019.
