Gain access to free local arts space for your employees on your businesses’ doorstep
Founded in 1972, the Soho Poly was London’s leading Fringe theatre and an important part of Fitzrovia’s artistic heritage. The theatre provided access to the arts for all, giving the spotlight to underrepresented writers, particularly women. Caryl Churchill and Bob Hoskins were some of the creatives who made their start at the theatre.
Rediscovered in 2012 by playwright and Head of Creative Writing at the University, Dr Matt Morrison, the space is soon to undergo a full restoration and renovation into a multi-functional arts space.
We need businesses to support the project
With the help of the local business community, we can all do our part to help make this a reality by donating to this important fundraising campaign. The funding will go to a complete modernisation of the theatre, adaptations for disabled access and to meet health and safety regulations, and the creation of an exhibition space upstairs – The Soho Poly Upstairs.
All businesses who donate £500 or more, will be listed on the donor tree in the space once open and invited to the opening night planned for early November, with a chance to ‘meet the performer’.
The restored Soho Poly will disrupt the everyday as a vibrant community hub for inclusivity and wellbeing in and around Fitzrovia, bringing people from across London into the area. It will offer community engagement and diverse programming to its partners and local schools and provide a contemporary performance and education venue for the London arts community. It will play a key role in the recovery of the Arts.
This is their last push for funding contributors. The project has matched funds in place until mid-May. By helping the theatre reach its funding goal, you’ll help to enrich the day of your employees, to engage with free arts during their lunch or coffee break, and support their wellbeing. We would be ever so grateful to see our member businesses support the next chapter of this truly great space.
