As of Tuesday 28 June, new laws were passed by the government to give tougher sentences to those who commit the most heinous crimes, and these laws will end the automatic release of offenders deemed to be a danger to the public. With the recent sad news of the murder in Ilford, these new laws are extremely timely and very much needed. The government is aiming to give people more confidence in the criminal justice system.
