Under new business legislation, more UK workers in hospitality, leisure and services sectors will be able to take home cash they’ve earned from tips and service charge. Many hospitality workers rely on tips to top up their pay and sometimes this hasn’t always been passed on – this new law Allocation of Tips bill will ensure tips go to staff and make it unlawful for businesses to keep it.
This new law could benefit more than 2 million workers and will help to ease the pressure from the cost of living crisis. Customers can also be confident that they’re money is also going to the hardworking employees. A Code of Practice will be developed to provide businesses and staff with help on how tips are to be distributed. Plus more information on past tips can also be requested by the staff.
