Extra paid parental leave for those whose babies require neonatal care

Business minister Jane Hunt has announced that there will be additional paid time off of up to 12 weeks for new parents whose newborn babies are unwell and receiving neonatal care for a prolonged period of time, instead of worrying about having to take unpaid leave or return to work sooner when their child is still in hospital. Parents will be able to spend vital time with their baby and the new Leave and Pay bill will give them piece of mind about finances during their already difficult time. In addition they are still eligible for other leave entitlements such as maternity and paternity leave. Employers will also be able to better support their staff during those difficult times.
