International travel changes – Balearic Islands added to amber list

From 4am Monday 19 July, The Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera) are now on the Amber list. Cases have been rising fast on these islands, and now only two weeks after being placed on the green watch list, they are moving down to amber. This means that those who are not fully vaccinated will have to quarantine on arrival back to the UK from the Balearics.

From Monday 19, the fully vaccinated and Under-18s will not need to quarantine under new rules. The British Virgin Islands are also moving to the amber list, while Cuba, Indonesia, Myanmar and Sierra Leone are now in the red list. Bulgaria and Hong Kong will move to the green list.

The Transport Secretary has reminded travellers and those who have booked holidays abroad, that anything can change quickly and it is difficult to ensure that a country will remain on the green list.
