Oyster card contactless pay as you go usage will no longer be more expensive than using a travelcard or other contactless payment. Daily and weekly capping will now be added to oyster cards. The new system will ensure that users will now get the best available fare for their journey on tube or rail.
Previously the usage of oyster card, had no daily or weekly capping limit, making it more expensive to use if making multiple journeys. Now the cap will stop taking payment at the same amount as the the weekly travelcard amount. Research has shown that pas-as-you-go is prefered by 80% of passengers rather than travelcards or single tickets.
