The second Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy is published

This new policy paper maps out the governments strategy and plans to roll out investment in cycling and walking initiatives until 2025. The aims of the strategy are to:

  • Increase cycling for shorter journeys
  • Increase walking
  • Double cycling
  • Increase the percentage of children aged 5 to 10 who usually walk to school

The new government strategy covers the period between now and 2025 and includes new and updated objectives including doubling cycling, increasing levels of walking across the community, and walking to school, whilst also setting out the funding in place to achieve these goals. A total of nearly £4 billion will be invested in walking and cycling over the period – delivering new and improved walking and cycling routes across England and behaviour change programmes.
