LONDON FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE

'Bare Things' by Pei-Chi Lee & Asia Zwierzchowska

Our Design inspiration for our Fitz&Sits seat is taken from a quote of Virginia Woolf a former resident of Fitzrovia, who lived on Fitzroy Square.

Our intervention will turn everyday passers-by into curious explorers, inviting them to explore the cultural richness of the past and present through materials and textures. The cultural and social history of Fitzrovia, with its multicultural community, artists, and traders, emerges as an ideal source for inspiration.

Co-creation with the community

Two tile-making workshops were held in Fitzrovia so the community could be part of the creative process. The tiles made in the workshops are used on the base of the seat.

About Us

Pei-Chi Lee and Asia Zwierzchowska met at a residency in Slavutych, Ukraine, in 2021, and have since collaborated on projects across art and design. With a background in textile and architecture, their projects, driven by play and storytelling, examine the relationship between heritage, wellbeing, and sustainability.

Asia Zwierzchowska is an architect. She gained experience at London practices such as Assemble and Stanton Williams. Currently, she runs a retrofit housing project at Haringey council. She was recognised as one of nine Polish designers shaping the future by a leading architectural magazine “Architektura” in December 2024. Asia is a design tutor at Birmingham School of Architecture and a mentor at University of Westminster.

Pei-Chi Lee is a Taiwan-born, UK-based interdisciplinary artist whose work examines how culture and infrastructure shape human behaviour. She earned an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2019. Since then, her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and she has led projects, workshops, and talks on playfulness and well-being. Recently, she completed a residency with Foundation Art Divvy in Lahore, Pakistan, supported by Delfina Foundation and the British Council.

As a firm, we are deeply rooted in the local community and pleased to be contributing to an initiative that brings creativity and vibrancy to the streetscape.
