LONDON FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE

Patiently Waiting by Studio This + That

"An interactive bench designed to inspire play and evoke childhood memories."

This intervention will turn everyday passers-by into curious explorers, inviting them to explore the cultural richness of the past and present through materials and textures. The cultural and social history of Fitzrovia, with its multicultural community, artists, and traders, emerges as an ideal source for inspiration.

About TDL and HSL

The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL) proudly support healthcare professionals and patients with high-quality clinical laboratory diagnostics. Our services support medical decisions that directly influence the healthcare outcomes of millions of patients every year. Our work is grounded in care, quality and a commitment to having a positive impact on the communities we serve every day, as well as the wider healthcare sector.

Why are we sponsoring a Fitz&Sits seat?

With a presence in the Fitzrovia area, we are not only a laboratory – we are a neighbour. This is our way of giving back to the vibrant Fitzrovia community that we are proud to be a part of. We seek to play our part in community projects, and it is a pleasure for us to contribute in meaningful and lasting ways.

What does it mean to us?

This sponsorship is about more than just a bench – it’s a symbol of connection and a way to build ties with the community. The concept design of “Patiently Waiting” is perfectly suited to us, particularly as many of our patients live and work right here in Fitzrovia. We hope this thoughtfully designed bench becomes a memorable spot, offering passers-by a moment of joy and peace in waiting.
